Letter to the hypocrite

Write a letter to the personality trait you like least, convincing it to shape up or ship out. Be as threatening, theatrical, or thoroughly charming as is necessary to get the job done.

I’ll be direct here. I don’t like you. But you

know that very well, and you also know that’s the reason why you avoid me. But let me tell you something: Running away from me won’t solve anything. Running away from the truth won’t solve anything. And although you might think that I have a million flaws in mind (which is true), that was never the point. On the contrary, you have only one problem. You’re a coward.

No matter what wrong you commit, you will never be able to see through your actions. The moment someone begins to point out something, you are already defensive. You can never fill a cup that’s already full (even though it’s full of crap). So if you want to get your shit together, the first thing you have to do is man up and take responsibilities for your actions.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

Mahatma Gandhi

Be the kind of person that you want others to be.

Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.

Jim Rohn

But  that’s all easy to hear and forget. And I’m totally confident in your case, because especially after being called a coward, ever since you read one wrong about you in this letter, you’ve been thinking only ill of me and all else written afterwards was nothing to you but static. I know that:

No one has ever made himself great by showing how small someone else is.

Irvin Himmel

But I also know that,

A genuine change must first come from within the individual, only then can he or she attempt to make a significant contribution to humanity.

Dalai Lama

So yeah, we’re all at fault here. No one is perfect. But that’s not the point. The real aim in all this is to strive for that perfection. And that’s something you never try. You think you’re already there.

Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.

André Gide

But even if all this would not make a dent in your thick skull, let me objectify some points:

  1. Stop being so selfish
You dream of always having all the glory to yourself, then you should also be ready to take the fall when the time comes. Don’t be a bitch and involve others only when the going gets tough.
  2. Take responsibilities
The same point I’ve been trying to explain all along. Learn to accept your mistakes. Yes, you make mistakes very often. It’s time you realised that.
  3. You are not the best
Stop pretending, or better- stop lying to yourself. Your principles are all messed up. Whatever you do, you always try to prove to yourself that you’re the best. Stop doing that. You are not the best, and more importantly, no one cares. One should do anything just for the sake of doing it, not the result. Don’t run after the fruits of your labours, that’ll come by itself. And don’t run at all if you’re in it just for the fruit.

Man up, and be a better person. It’s never too late.

PS. The reason you might hate people like me,

Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.
