Masaan‘ translates to Crematorium in English. And no other movie can be a better metaphor to a Crematorium than what Neeraj Ghaywan produced in the form of his masterpiece- ‘Masaan’.
        ‘Masaan’ is set in the holy Indian town of Varanasi. Varanasi is supposed to be filled with life, a place of colours, religious music and satisfaction But what Ghaywan does with this city leaves its viewers awestruck. He squeezes the life out of Varanasi. There is no colour but white fumes and grey ash. There is no music but the crackling of burning pyres. Let alone the pilgrims…
