Rogue One (2016) – Disney did it again!

Rogue One is the eight major instalment in the Star Wars franchise, and we all had our reasons to be excited about it. What was special about this movie was that this was the first Star Wars movie that was not about the Skywalker family. So aside from the all too familiar epic space opera that we all know and love, Rogue One is an Continue reading Rogue One (2016) – Disney did it again!

Batman v Superman – Why the fans loved it, and why the critics hated it?

After almost a year of heavy teasing and heavy discussions, we finally have the chance to watch one of the most awaited blockbusters of the year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Man from Earth (2007)

The Man from Earth is a 2007 indie film with a fan following even today, especially among the intellectual circles. I recently saw this as a recommendation from my friend, and I found the movie quite interesting, to say the least .

Although I found the premise interesting, the movie underwhelmed me overall.

In my opinion, the movie had Continue reading The Man from Earth (2007)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

“Chewie, we’re home.”

NOTE: I'm a fan. This is a biased review.

It’s no surprise that The Force Awakens was one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Countless memes and discussions have been floating around the internet ever since the epic teaser was released. It was as if 2015 began with so many things, and ended with only one thing: the return of one of the most beloved movie franchise of all time. And in less than a week, the movie has already broken most records without breaking a sweat.
All of this goes a long way saying how great the franchise really is. But the movie is another topic of discussion. And so after more than 10 years, we are finally blessed with a seventh installment. Continue reading Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Lights Out (2016)

Boy, what a scare that was!

A supernatural horror movie, Lights Out is an out of the blue surprise hit by David F. Sandberg as his major directorial debut.

I saw the trailer (which was also quite impressive) during the previews when I went to watch the strictly average Conjuring 2. So with only a trailer in mind, I went to the movies without much expectation. And by the end of one and a half hour of cinema, I was  Continue reading Lights Out (2016)

Masaan (2015)- Probably one of the best Hindi movie till date

Arguably the best Hindi-language film I’ve seen to date. A serious movie at heart, Masaan was a captivating experience right from ts inception. People should refrain from calling this a Bollywood movie as it is truly a class apart. The debut movie of director Neeraj Ghaywan, Masaan is a Continue reading Masaan (2015)- Probably one of the best Hindi movie till date

Spectre (2015)

The fallout after Skyfall was a promising one. After all, the series had changed a lot since Daniel Craig took the helm and Skyfall was the final testament to the modernization of the franchise. With the destruction MI6 and the untimely demise of M, people were really wondering. Spectre promised the same new formula and a brand new story. Things were starting to get interesting and when the movie finally came out, it just Continue reading Spectre (2015)

Gangaajal- Why no other movie can replace the 2003 classic

Days after the release of the hyped Jai Gangaajal, there almost no talk about the movie. Even the recent ‘Priyanka-Wave’ could do little to uplift the fate of this 2016 release. The fact is, that the only reason this movie attracted attention was that it was hailed as a supposed spiritual successor to the 2003 Bollywood classic, Gangaajal and now it only goes to prove that there can be no other.

The recent debacle of the latest Prakash Jha release only adds to the glory of the 2003 classic. So this feels like a good time to revisit the original movie and what made it stand out. Continue reading Gangaajal- Why no other movie can replace the 2003 classic

Pitchers (2015)

Yaar, kya mast series tha yaar TVF!

TVF Pitchers is the most recent online web-series on the highly popular Indian YouTube channel, The Viral Fever. I’ll be direct here- Pitchers is one of the best work of motion picture to ever come out of this country.
